Hello Managers!
As we approach 2025, it’s important to ensure that we are setting a strong foundation for the year ahead. One of the most impactful ways to do this is by focusing on the growth and engagement of your direct reports.
Truvelop Tip: Set Your Team Up for Success in 2025
1. Set Clear Goals Aligned with Organizational Priorities
Head into 2025 with focused goal-setting conversations. Collaborate with your direct reports to define clear, measurable, and time-bound objectives that align with both their personal development and broader organizational priorities. Use SMART criteria (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-Bound) to ensure clarity and trackability. Check in regularly to review progress and adjust as needed to stay aligned with evolving business needs.
2. Prioritize Feedback and Development
Regular feedback is key to continuous improvement and engagement. If this isn’t something you already do, set the tone heading into 2025 that this will be a priority. Schedule recurring one-on-one meetings to provide both constructive and positive feedback.
Use these meetings as an opportunity to discuss growth opportunities, skills they want to develop, and resources they may need. Additionally, encourage them to share feedback with you—this fosters trust and a culture of mutual accountability. Don’t forget to follow-up the conversation with a Spark!
When employees feel supported in their growth, their engagement and contributions will increase.
3. Promote Ownership and Collaboration
Empower your direct reports by encouraging autonomy and accountability (is this the right time to assign Subject Matter Expert titles?). Delegate tasks that challenge them and align with their strengths, and make it clear that their contributions directly impact our success. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration by connecting team members with peers in other departments, which can increase innovation and broaden perspectives.
2025 holds tremendous opportunities for all of you. By taking these proactive steps now, you’ll not only drive results but also strengthen your teams and culture.
